2025 Backyard Poultry Seminar Series

Our Poultry Specialist, Meghan will be hosting two backyard poultry seminars at the Peterborough Branch (2182 Keene Road, Otonabee). These events are geared towards complete beginners, but are also informative for novice poultry owners. 

Raising Meat Birds & Turkeys 
Date: Tuesday, February 25th 
Time: 6:00pm-8:00pm 
Focusing on raising broilers, and turkeys at the backyard level. Topics will include: preparing for day-old chicks, feeding for optimal gains, fast vs slow growth breeds, predator prevention & control, processing options, farm gate marketing, biosecurity, and Avian Influenza. 

Raising Layers
Date: Tuesday, March 4th 
Time: 6:00pm-8:00pm 
Focusing on backyard laying hens. Topics will include breed selections, raising chicks, proper nutrition, life cycles, common diseases & ailments, biosecurity, predator prevention & control, coop design, and overwintering. 

REGISTRATION: 
Spaces are limited to 20 attendees per event and will sell-out.
